Standard & Poor's Quantitative Analytics Group is responsible for establishing and maintaining quantitative excellence by developing cutting edge quantitative research, models and applications for internal use and external commercialization. Within the Quantitative Analytics Group we are offer a summer internship opportunity for a well qualified student to work on research projects on natural language processing and machine learning.
The Intern will work within the quantitative research modeling group, surveying a number of S&P models, both in production and in development, as well as the relevant literature, with the goal of associating time-stamped model output with time-stamped online natural language text and generating automated reports that incorporate both quantitative model output as well as natural language text. The intern will work with the research group to determine the efficacy of the potential techniques, with data specialists to source and price new data, if necessary, and with internal model clients to get feedback and communicate potential changes. The intern will document the models and literature surveyed as well as potential data vendors. The Intern will spend some of his time coding in MATLAB, and within an agreed upon timeframe, will be responsible for producing deliverables that have verifiable output and will perform due diligence checks. This position requires the ability to digest appropriate empirical finance literature, the ability to implement code test hypotheses, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide audience to maximize efficiencies.
